Handpan notation

I guess each of you has seen the classical Western European notation written in a form similar to this one western musical notation sheet example and I'm sure anyone who's played music by notes at one time or another has been scared of it.

However, music for the handpan can be described in a much simpler and easier to read way, based on the Middle Eastern percussion tradition. Rhythm, melody and harmony - everything that can be played on the handpan can be depicted like this:
example of handpan notatin Now all you need to know is how the notes and percussion sounds are arranged and labeled on the instrument and how the rhythm you are playing is counted. Then you'll instantly recognize that a bar from the above notation denotes something like that: "Dum Dum Dum note-note-note-note Dum Dum Tak." Much simpler, right!

This is the goal and the whole idea behind the Handpan Notation Tool, which we are going to use during the classes. With the help of a simple and clear interface, we will learn to create our own notations, write down ideas that come to our mind at the moment, practice exercises using the built-in metronome, learn other people's compositions and last but not least improve our understanding of beat and rhythm.
